Someone in New York has millions of reasons to smile this morning after winning the $94.8 million Powerball jackpot last night. It comes just a day after a Wisconsin ticket hit the state's first-ever Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Minogue’s Beverage Center on Route 9 in the small town of Ballston Spa, near Saratoga Springs.
The winning ticket was a Quick Pick and matched all the numbers in the Wednesday, September 16 drawing. The main white balls were 10, 17, 31, 51, 53 and the red Powerball was 1. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.
The winner can take the full advertised jackpot as an annuity of 30 annual payments, or receive the current jackpot prize pool of $75.7 million as a cash option lump sum payout.
Wednesday's draw had another big winner - a ticket in Texas scored the $1 million second prize for matching all five white balls. The ticket holder had added Power Play, so their prize is actually worth $2 million. Power Play is an optional add-on that costs an extra $1 per line and multiplies prizes below the jackpot.
There were a total of 849,522 winners in last night's draw, scoring cash prizes from $4 through the jackpot. Make sure to check your tickets and find out if you've won.
The Powerball jackpot has been won seven times so far this year - it's been growing since a Florida ticket won $168.5 million on August 12. That prize, as well as $190 million won in New Jersey in April, has not been claimed yet.
The jackpot has also been hit in Wisconsin and West Virginia in June, Michigan in February, and Florida had its first top prize of the year back in January.
